A Heart-to-Heart with a Mother-Daughter Duo
What does Mother’s Day mean to you?
Natalie: A day to celebrate these individuals who only just want the best for us. A day to show her grace and appreciation to thank her for raising us, but we shouldn’t wait until Mother’s Day to shower her with love.
How do you celebrate Mother’s Day with your family?
Natalie: We chat and eat food. Maybe a little ice cream or dessert? We like to keep things simple and go bigger on birthdays. In what ways are you and your mother / daughter similar and different?
Natalie: We are the same but different! She is very structured and meticulous whereas I am the opposite. Our similarities would be a shared interest in cooking, culture and food.
What is your favourite way to express love and appreciation for each other?
Natalie: As we don’t live together, I like calling mom when something funny, interesting or crazy happens. She is usually the first person I tell anything to.
A mother is not just the person who brought us into the world. She is the one who listens to our fears and hears the unspoken words. She's the one who lifts us up when we fall and stays by our side through the darkest of nights. A mother's love is a gentle yet powerful force that guides us through life's twists and turns, shaping us into the people we are meant to be.
How would you describe your mother using 3 adjectives?
Natalie: Strong, Resilient and Graceful.
The Birth of WOODCO
What inspired you to start a business together, and how did you first get the idea for WOODCO?
Natalie: Mom is a very crafty woman. She started candle making as a hobby and mixed her own scents to burn when she practices yoga. One day during our monthly sleepovers, I was over at hers and we started making candles and scents. I made the first 6 scents (aka the core collection - the ogs would know ;D)) on that very first night. I got a little carried away. Needless to say, I was hooked. Christmas rolled around and being a little Instagram user that I am, I did some shameless selling on my profile and got a pleasant amount of people expressing interest. That’s how WOODCO came about :)
"The influence of a mother in the lives of her children is beyond calculation." - James E. Faust. The influence of a mother on the lives of her children is immeasurable and far-reaching. It is a force that transcends time and space, shaping the very essence of who we are and who we will become. A mother's love and guidance are like a gentle breeze that carries us through life's trials and tribulations, providing comfort and strength when we need it most.
